Welcome

Erin is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at Northwestern University.  Her empirical research centers on power and politics in global financial markets, and she is also interested in the ways risk and uncertainty are dealt with in global governance.

Erin's dissertation analyzes the enduring power and authority of financial actors in the global market for over-the-counter derivatives, even after these products exacerbated the financial crisis of 2008. Her dissertation focuses on the political consequences of constructing and legitimating a crisis-prone market, paying particular attention to the contingent practices through which valuation, liquidity, and confidence are maintained.

In addition to conducting her doctoral research, Erin is a graduate mentor for the
International Studies Program at Northwestern, where she organizes events for the weekly Global Cafe series, and the Administrative Coordinator for the Global Capitalism & Law Research Group at the Buffett Institute.
